Brief History of Ruamrudee International School
1957 – The Redemptorists of Thailand form the idea for an international school to meet the educational and catechetical needs of children of expatriate and local Catholic parishioners. A makeshift school officially opens on May 17, 1957 – designated RIS Foundation Day – with 4 wooden classrooms over a pond behind Holy Redeemer Church.

1963 – Ruamrudee School (RRS) is officially chartered under the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and renamed Ruamrudee International School (RIS).

1965 – New buildings are completed and blessed by Archbishop Pedroni, Apostolic Delegate to Thailand, on November 6th.

1966-1967 – The first RIS Senior Class graduates.

1973 – Accreditation for the High School is granted by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Burlingame, California, USA.

1984 – The Swiss Association School merges with RIS to become the RIS Swiss Section.

1989-1990 – The school is restructured into 3 sections: Elementary School (1-5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12). RIS is granted K-12 WASC Accreditation in 1990.

1992-1994 – RIS moves to its new home in Minburi located east of Bangkok.

1998 – RIS High School offers the option of a full International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.

2002 – St. Thomas Aquinas Church is blessed on January 5th.

2003 – Redeemer International School Thailand (RIST) officially opens as a model English acquisition school and sister school to RIS.

2004 – RIS Family Day on January 30th inaugurates the 50-m. Astra Pool, Phoenix Hall, Phoenix playing field, and state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center.
