RIS is extremely saddened to learn of the death
of one of our recent graduates. Poomin (Big)
Haputpong was a student at Ruamrudee since Grade
4 and graduated last year. Big was in his first
year as a student at Thammasat University in
Business Administration.
Big was traveling home as a passenger in a
friend’s car in the early hours of Sunday morning,
Feb. 4. There were three boys in the car. Big
and another boy were killed when the car crashed.
There are two younger sisters in the family;
Bee who is currently in Grade 9 and Best who
has been a student at Ruamrudee in Grade 11
and has recently left RIS, just last semester,
to attend school in Singapore. Our hearts go
out to them and to their parents Khun Noo and
Khun Sittisak. Khun Noo and Khun Sittisak are
great friends and supporters of Ruamrudee and
are, and have been, extremely active, hardworking
members of the Parent Auxiliary. They are truly
wonderful, devoted parents who give their love,
support and so importantly their time to their
children. We can only imagine what they are
going through and offer them our support in
any way that we can be of help.
The funeral service is at Wat Ladprao, Sala
2 at 7.00 pm every day through to the cremation
which will take place at 3 pm on Saturday, Feb.
10. Ruamrudee and the Parent Auxiliary are sponsoring
the funeral service tonight (Tuesday). Prior
to the Buddhist prayers starting at 7:00 pm,
for tonight only there will be a Catholic prayer
service in Thai at 6:15 pm led by the Fathers
of RIS.
A bus will be provided for teachers who wish
to attend on Tuesday leaving the school at 5:00
pm. Please let Neil Walton know if you would
like a seat on the bus at nwalton@rism.ac.th.
Location & Map: Wat Lad Prao is in Soi
Chokechai 4 also known as Lad Prao Soi 53, off
Lad Prao Rd. A map giving directions from RIS
is available in the section offices and at the
School Development office (Reception, ground
floor Admin Bldg).
The counseling office, and high school office
is making contact with friends of the family
to provide support for them. Students if you
feel upset or wish to talk to someone please
have your teacher excuse you from class to visit
the counseling office. This is a terrible tragedy
felt by everyone at school. We join in prayer
for the family.

With deepest sympathy and condolences,
Father Wirach Amonpattana, C.Ss.R
Head of School
