As most of you know, Ruamrudee International
School (RIS) is celebrating our Jubilee Year
this year. To commemorate our 50th anniversary,
amongst many other activities, the school is
proud to present an all-school RIS & RIST
drama production – The Wizard of Oz – the largest
and most ambitious production in the school’s
50-year history, on Saturday, November 10, at
7 p.m. in the newly renovated Godbout Hall (official
grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony will
be held at 6 p.m.). All proceeds from the ticket
sales will support the RIS K-12 Performing Arts
Department.
Coordinated by the Performing Arts Department
under the direction of Susan McQuaker, the show
combines the talents and efforts of more than
150 students school-wide. It promises to be
not only a brilliant showcase of RIS excellence,
but also a spectacular family event delighting
all ages and bringing our entire community together.
The Wizard of Oz is about a Kansas farm girl
named Dorothy who gets caught in a tornado and
is transported to a magical land of Munchkins
where she meets all sorts of strange and wonderful
creatures including a Scarecrow, a Tin Man,
a Cowardly Lion, and a Wicked Witch. Their quest
to find what they think they lack takes them
to the fabulous Land of Oz. There they meet
the Wizard, who teaches them that they have
always possessed everything they need.
Tickets go on sale today and are available
from School Development Office (AD105). The
last day to purchase is Monday, November 5.
(There will be no ticket sales on the day of
the performance.) An Advance Ticket Booking
Form is attached for your use and can be returned
to School Development Office with your child
or via fax. The form is also available online
