Teacher Technology Exchange
The TechEX conference brought together a multitude of educators from across Thailand and the region to discuss the use of computers in the classroom.
400 teachers and administrators attended from every major international school in Bangkok, as well as schools from Rayong, Chiangmai, Phuket, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar. Companies with an interest in education also supported the event and demonstrated many of their products.

The day brought many rewards to the teachers at the school, as many new ideas about teaching were exchanged. One comment heard repeatedly throughout the day was that the conference offered great variety. There was something for everyone, along with amazing cutting edge technology for classroom use. A variety of events and workshops were featured throughout the day, and teachers saw practical demonstrations of technology used in classrooms firsthand. The theme of the conference was the importance of exchanging ideas. Through this exchange, teachers were able to grow as professionals.

The conference aimed to meet a need missing from the professional development of Bangkok teachers: how to integrate technology into the classroom. Teachers know how to do this better than others. So, it was a conference organized by teachers for teachers. It appears to have achieved the goals to which it aspired.
This idea of exchanging ideas will continue and RIS will support more such initiatives to ensure its faculty is prepared to meet the needs of the 21st century.
