From Fr. Travis
Dear Members and Friends of RIS
Several years ago the RIS Theme was “Reach out to Others and Communicate”. We put that theme into practice for a whole year, learning each day that other people are very important to us. We felt fortunate that among the personnel of RIS there were members from other nations, other cultures, other religions. We appreciated the chance to learn about their history, the wonderful, ancient customs and beliefs of peoples all around the world. We saw that some people did not have the same color of skin as we do. It was obvious to us that this “coloring” did not matter. We saw that their cultures, although different than our own, were beautiful and meaningful. We began to respect and to reverence the faith and religion of other nations. It was a great year of reaching out to fellow-students, to their families, and communicating with them. We had a vision that people of all descriptions and back-grounds could be like a color-filled rainbow, spreading across the sky, reaching out to everyone on earth - bringing the joy of peace.
Recently some terrorists tried to change our mind... They wanted us to think that some nations, cultures, or even some religions are bad. You and I know that this is not true !! There might be some difficult persons here or there... but nations, cultures and religions all remain pure and beautiful to us at
Ruamrudee International School !!!
The Shrine of our Flags representing all nations stands strong and proud at the doorway of our School. The Flags of this Shrine seem to be joining hands, - a Union of Nations of loving peoples !! The letters of concern, poetry and flowers from the Students, Teachers and Staff of RIS show that we continue to profess our respect for each person, each nation, each culture, each religion. We, of Ruamrudee International School, express our sympathy to those lost in terrorism. We pray for them and for their families. We refuse to change our mind about caring for others, despite differences of race, in a spirit of family love. We continue to Reach out and Communicate.
God bless you.
