Message from Head of School
A very warm welcome to everybody! I know you join me in looking forward to another challenging and rewarding year. Ending one school year and beginning a new one gives us an opportunity to regroup and recharge. I am thankful to all those who have put a great deal of effort into ensuring a smooth start – administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students.
Our focus for this school year will continue to center around the theme for our 50th anniversary, ‘Building Up and Reaching Out’. The theme highlights our student-centered curriculum and ethos of caring citizenship. We have defined some goals and essential ways in which everyone takes part in our school’s successes and celebrations.
Our first goal is fostering a school culture of ‘Collaborative Teaching and Learning’. Our faculty and staff work hard at meetings and professional development activities to enhance their skills and knowledge, and make our school a place of continuous learning and sharing. Open communication is key. A priority for the administration is to keep seeking more effective channels of communication, and encourage school-wide involvement and input in decision-making.
Our second goal, ‘Building School Spirit and Values’ encourages pride in who we are as a community and active participation in school activities. Our eyes are on Ruamrudee’s 50th anniversary in 2007 – be sure to join this important celebration! Parents and alumni hold a special place in nurturing school spirit, and I look forward to making contact with many former members of the RIS family. On the community service side, the Mekong River Basin Peace Project and Prison Learning Center Project are two unique programs that reflect our theme of ‘reaching out’.
Our third goal is to create ‘An Optimum Teaching and Learning Environment’ with approval from the school board for campus-wide renovations. By the year 2007, our aim is to refurbish most of our school facilities in line with our high academic standards.
We expect these goals to accentuate our identity as a Catholic International School that provides quality education in a caring environment. Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. With everyone taking part, I’m sure our goals will be accomplished this year and in the years to come.
God bless you,
Fr. Wirach Amonpattana, C.Ss.R. |
